What is dolomite?

Dolomite is a special kind of limestone. Its life story began when tiny cteat=es took calcium sly. Other limey minerals from the sea to make their shells, Through the ages, layers of these old shells dried out and become beds of limestone. When quantities of magnesia were present, the limestone in time may have become dolomite.

Limestone is a soft and usually a dirty white mineral. Dolomite is more like wax or glass tinted with pastel colors of all kinds. It is found in crystals and graceful clusters, and there is almost always some dolomite around a sizeable bed of limestone.
