Where do butterflies go at night?

When you find a velvety winged insect flying around after dark, chances are it is a moth. For moths fly mostly at night and their cousins the butterflies fly mostly during the sunny hours. During their rest periods, it is not too easy to find them.

At sunset, each lovely butterfly usually finds himself a leafy tree. He settles under the shadow of a leaf and folds his wings together, tip to tip. There he stays until the first beams of sunlight call him forth in the morning. As he sets forth to meet the day, his cousin the moth is finding himself a shady spot to hide from the sunlight. He rests with his wings spread out flat
